Arts Academic Advising Office

Our front counter and phone staff can answer many of your general questions.
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Closed weekends and statutory holidays.

Changes to Service Hours

  • Tuesday, December 12 – Closed from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. Drop-in advising will be available from 10:00am to 12:00pm and will resume at 3:00pm until 4:00pm.
  • Friday, December 15 –  Closing at 3:00pm for a holiday event. Drop-in advising will be available from 12:00am to 3:00pm.
  • Friday, December 22 – Arts Advising will close at 12:00pm for the holidays. Drop-in advising will be available that morning on a first come, first served basis. Please check-in at the front counter in Buchanan D111.
  • December 25, 2017  through January 1, 2018 – Closed

Drop-in Advising

Monday – Friday | 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Extended Hours: First two weeks of September and January (add/drop period), 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.

New Virtual Line: Rather than standing in line, you now join the queue from your phone or at the kiosk at the Arts Advising entrance. Text “UBC” to 604-229-4098 and follow the prompts. An approximate wait time will be given. The virtual line opens 15 min before drop-in hours and closes when the day’s appointment capacity is reached. Until Sep 1: The virtual line opens at 12:45pm. Sep 5 – 19: The virtual line opens at 9:45am.

Distance Advising via Skype

Available for a limited time | August 28  –  September 1, 2017 | 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Distance Advising is offered on a first to sign-in, first-served basis, and priority will be given to students who reside outside of Metro Vancouver.

Advising Workshops & Events

Beat the Lines! November 8 – 30, 2017
Interactive advising workshops tailored to answer your degree and graduation questions. The sessions are limited to 15-20 students so sign-up early. To RSVP, click on the workshop date you plan to attend. We recommend that you bring your laptop to follow along in Degree Navigator.

3rd Year and Beyond
