Working part time while studying at UBC can be a great way to earn extra money, gain professional work experience and meet new people. There are a variety of programs that you can access at UBC to facilitate this experience! Work Learn and Co-Op are great ways to get involved.
Work Learn Opportunities
The Work Learn Program supports and subsidizes meaningful work experiences on campus with faculty, staff and affiliates with UBC Vancouver Payroll accounts. They offer the opportunity for all current UBC students to develop your professional skills and learn in a work environment. They are great opportunities for students to gain experience in a particular field and convenient for students to work on campus. All current UBC-Vancouver students are eligible and must be registered in courses in the term(s) they hold a Work Learn Position.
There are Indigenous specific positions that can be found throughout the year with Aboriginal Student Affairs, the Native Youth Project at the Museum of Anthropology, and the First Nations House of Learning. There are also a vast amount of positions offered in a number of different departments and units across campus.
Undergraduate Arts Co-op students work in a wide range of positions within the private, public and non-profit sectors. Employers hire co-op students based on their skill-set and career interests; your major is only one of many factors.
