Get Involved

You’re talented, you’re smart and you want to make a difference – in your community, your family, your workplace. You’re not just a university graduate by the time you leave UBC – you’re a global citizen.

An Arts degree is a leadership degree, which makes it valuable in the workforce. Building your career isn't just about getting a degree, however.

Learn how to share your knowledge and talents with others by knowing how to step up when it matters – what leadership is all about.

Now's the time and place

You may never again experience so many opportunities in one place than at university, so dive in while you can!

What students say…

“Joining a sorority was one of the best decisions I made at UBC! I found a group of accomplished women who became my best friends while pushing me to maximize my potential.” – Meghan Roberts (UBC Sororities)

"My involvement with the International Relations Students' Association (IRSA) has brought international political issues to my attention and opened the door to future opportunities on the international stage." - Sara Shawesh (IRSA)

What should I get involved in?

  • Take a look at your current interests and see if there is a club or organization to match. You don’t need to have previous experience to be involved at UBC, so pick something you like and jump in.
  • Enjoy representing and advocating for Arts students?  Try running for a position in the Arts Undergraduate Society or becoming a student representative to the Faculty.
  • Interested in travel? Check out AIESEC or Go Global for international work opportunities.
  • Is your channel often set on the Food Network? The UBC Food Society is the place for you.
  • Looking for a thrill? UBC Rec is guaranteed to offer something you've never tried: windsurfing, nordic walking, skimboarding, snowshoeing, bungee jumping, and more. Of course, it also offers league sports for every level of competition.
  • Want a connection with campuses across North America? Try something that encompasses several aspects of campus life, like a sorority or fraternity.
  • Want to get involved in a meaningful opportunity that offers free university-level education for people who live in and around the Downtown Eastside on very low incomes? Consider getting involved in Humanities 101.
