The Department of English is one of the largest undergraduate departments in the Faculty of Arts. Students may enter an Honours program in literature, or a Major or Minor program in either the literature or language stream.
In these programs, students may range widely in their course selections or concentrate in one or more specialties such as Canadian literature and culture, children’s literature, post-colonial literatures, First Nations studies, gender studies, nationalism and globalization, text and technology, and intellectual history.
Language courses cover many aspects of English language study, including history and structure of the language, rhetorical studies, stylistics, and discourse analysis.
If you have any questions regarding applications, please contact the department.
