On Campus

There are many volunteer opportunities on and off campus, but please note the following list is not an exhaustive one. There are more for yourself to explore.

• Arts Academic Advising Student Liaisons: become an International Student Liaison (ISL) with Arts Academic Advising and participate in an international student calling campaign!  

• Crane Production Unit: help students and faculty who cannot use print by narrating books onto tapes.

• Equity Ambassadors: collaborate with other students to increase awareness about human rights and inclusivity issues. 

• International House: develop communication skills and learn about global and intercultural issues.  You can make new friends from around the world while you're at it.

• Orientation Programs: share your experience at UBC as a leader, manager or assistant.

• QPR: Question, Persuade, Refer - suicide prevention program training.

• AMS Speakeasy (peer support): lend an ear and provide peer counseling and crisis support to your fellow students.

• Wellness Peer Educators: help out at the Wellness Centre to promote health, substance abuse, body image, and stress management awareness.

• AMS Volunteer Connect: find on-campus and off-campus volunteering opportunities. Your Alma Mater Society also plans volunteer fairs, and workshops all year.

• AMS Internship Program: gain valuable experience by working in fields related to your area of study.

       Off Campus

• UBC Learning Exchange: help inner city schools and non-profit organizations while learning about inner city issues. As much as possible, your volunteer work is integrated into academic course work—an approach called Community Service-Learning.

• International Service Learning (Go Global): engage in substantial projects led by community partners around the world, connecting your academic studies with real-world experience through a volunteer placement.

• Go Volunteer: get engaged -- search volunteer opportunities in BC and Alberta.
