December 2016 Dates and Events

Thursday, December 1

  • Winter Feast hosted by the First Nations Studies Student Association. The event will be held at the Longhouse in Sty-Wet-Tan Hall from 5:30-9pm. Admission is by donation.


Friday, December 2

  • Last day of Term 1 classes

Saturday December 3 & Sunday December

  • Annual Aboriginal Craft Fair
    Enjoy some great food and beautiful crafts from artists all over town. Pick up gifts for the holiday season or treat yourself to a one-of-a-kind creation. Visit the Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre located near Hastings and Commercial Drive (How to get there? The 004 Bus runs directly from UBC to Powell and Commercial which is 3 blocks from the Friendship Centre).

Tuesday, December 6

  • Drop-in Advising hours on Tuesday, December 6th will be from 9-11:30am and again from 3-4pm.

Tuesday, December 6 – Wednesday, December 21

  • Exam period (including Saturdays). To access your personalized exam schedule, log on the Student Service Centre (SSC) and click ‘Exam Schedule.’ Any missed exams will require a re-sit in Term 2.
  • Winter Gathering at the Longhouse from 12:30 -2pm, crafts, snacks and friendship.

December 8 – 17

  • Bah! Humbug! – A Holiday theatrical production happening at SFU.

Thursday, December 22

  • First year residences (Totem Park and Place Vanier) close for the holidays. Students must organize alternate accommodations and be out of residence buildings by 12pm on December 22nd. Please contact us if you have questions or concerns.

Friday, December 23

  • Arts Advising, including Aboriginal Student Affairs, closes for the holidays and will re-open on Tuesday, January 3rd. Operational hours TBC.

Sunday, December 25 – Tuesday, December 27

  • The University is closed

  • Last day to drop Distance Education Term D courses without a W standing through the Student Service Centre (SSC)

Thursday, January 26

  • Scholarship Workshop at the Social Lounge (Located in the Longhouse); 12-1pm. Includes a free pizza lunch! More details to come soon.
